H.264 Weighted Prediction Rate Control Algorithm of the MAD

  • In this paper,the macroblock layer weighted prediction rate control algorithm is proposed for H.264, which can greatly improve the video quality and reduce the computational complexity.After a thoroughly analysis of the temporal - spatial relationship and the movement of objects,the mean absolute difference(MAD) value of current MB is weighted combination of temporal MAD predicted by previous frame and spatial MAD predicted by current frame.MAD values obtained by this method are more accurate and can be able to adapt to different types of frame sequences.The experimental results show that,compared with JVT - G012,this proposed algorithm can control the rate more accurately and the PSNR can rise up to 0.22dB in average.
