Abstract:
License plate location is the most crucial step in License Plate Recognition (LPR) system.A new and efficient algorithm for license plate location is proposed.The contribution of this algorithm is that we combine block segmentation metnod and sliding window method so as to gain a more fast and robust one.The system consists of three major stages.First, vertical edges are detected.Then, generating candidate regions by block segmentation and sliding window method.Finally detemine license plate and revise the boundaries of it.Experimental results shows that the proposed method has high accuracy and robustness.
