Abstract:
The terminal display control computer unit of some system had a problem that its single CPU unit cannot access the multi-channel UART board (MCUB) directly through the compact PCI bus. To settle it, the paper presents a monitoring software solution, which takes the MCUB as a transparent bridge, exchanges bidirectional data between the CPU unit and the external devices via network packets. By fully applying the characters of the real-time embedded operating system VxWorks, e.g. micro kernel, multi-task, scalable components and message queue, the software tackles such difficulty as listening eight external devices simultaneously, real time and mass data exchange, realizes a mini-sized, highly real-time and well processed monitoring system. Experiment shows that the monitoring software satisfies the requirements of system development.
